Smoothies make a great snack in the summer for all ages at any time of the day. Here are some ideas to get you started the next time you feel like one for you and/or your kids.
Ingredients (per person):
½ cup Greek yogurt (flavoured or unflavoured)
1-2 cup(s) milk
1 or more fruit option(s) from below
Optional: 1 protein &/or fibre booster from below
Instructions: Blend and serve! Feel free to add more milk or ice if desired/needed to thin the smoothie out.
Fruit options:
½-1 banana
½ cup berries (fresh or frozen)
½ cup pineapple (fresh, frozen, or canned)
½ cup mango or peaches (fresh or frozen)
Protein Boosters:
½-1 scoop protein powder
1/3 cup NatureEgg Egg White (these are pasteurized)
100 gms silken tofu or Pete’s tofu to go
1/3 cup skim milk powder
Fibre Boosters:
1-2 Tbsp oatbran
1-2 Tbsp psyllium husk
1-2 tsp ground flax or hemp seed
1/3 cup All Bran buds with Psyllium
Another addition you may enjoy is match powder. This is a green tea powder. You can buy it plain or sweetened. I love the Matsu matcha and Vanilla matcha from David’s tea. You can blend either of these with milk, Greek yogurt, and a banana for a delicious “pick me up” at any time of the day!
Cheers!
