Creating healthy meals and snacks for kids doesn’t have to be complicated. I often think “What is one thing I can add to increase nutrient density?”.
In the case of chocolate milk, I like to add a scoop of Healthy Height chocolate protein powder to a cup of milk. This becomes a more nutrient-dense beverage, while delivering the same delicious flavour as regular chocolate milk.
And when my kids ask for a chocolate smoothie, I love to start with my “chocolate milk alternative”, and then add a banana and a handful for frozen kale or spinach.
Here are the exact proportions of each ingredient that I use if you want to try making it for your kids too!
Super Hero Smoothie
Blend together 2 cups of your favorite milk (we like to use coconut milk), 1 scoop Chocolate Healthy Height protein powder, 1 banana, 1 handful of frozen kale, and 1 pitted date. Once all ingredients are blended, pour the smoothie into 2-3 cups and enjoy!
