What’s Cooking in the LG Canada Kitchen!

It is well known that I am a foodie, but did you know that I am also a real kitchen person overall!?! I absolutely love the appliance section of stores and have spent hours looking at refrigerators, ovens, and dishwashers online. When LG invited me to their kitchen event this past June you can imagine my excitement to go! I was eager to see and learn about their InstaView™ Door-in-Door®  Refrigerator as well as their new Dishwasher with QuadWash® and TrueSteam®. I am excited to share more about these and the delicious food we enjoyed with you.

We started off the day learning about the LG Dishwasher with QuadWash® and TrueSteam®. The one below is in the black stainless steel finish which I absolutely loved and it lit up when we opened it. Here are 4 things you should know about the LG Dishwasher with QuadWash® and TrueSteam®:

  1. It has 4 on-door steam jets, so it sanitizes everything, which means you can even use it as a reliable option for baby bottles. The steam jets also prevent water marks on your glassware and cutlery.
  2. It is called a “quad wash” because it has 4 spray arms instead of just two. These spray arms spin and vibrate which means that you don’t need to pre-wash the dishes. Just remove any large food particles and set them in. The QuadWash® will do the rest!
  3. The QuadWash® has 3 racks! The middle one can adjust to three different settings depending how much room you need below or above and the bonus top rack is a flat place for sippy cup lids, bottle tops or nipples, extra utensils, longer cutlery, espresso cups, etc. In many dishwashers, these can fall to the bottom and get lost so I really love this feature!

Next, we were shown the innovative InstaView™ Door-in-Door® Refrigerator. I love that with just two knocks you can see inside and decide ahead of time what you want to pull out or what you might need to add to the grocery list without even opening the door!

In addition to the incredible energy savings or almost 50% cold air retention that this fridge offers, I instantly fell in love with the CustomChill® Drawer option. It has incredible features that allow for you to choose from a variety of settings ideal for various food and beverage options and is also at a level that would allow for children to get their lunches from inside or perhaps for storage of allergen safe foods. The options are endless for each family to customize this drawer based on their needs.

Once we had a chance to tour the appliances, Chef Chuck Hughes created a lunch for us that was easy, nutritious, and over the top delish!!! Here is what was on the menu…

Bruschetta: I have always spent a ton of time dicing tomatoes, onions, and herbs when making bruschetta but Chef Chuck Hughes introduced us to a new recipe and it is officially the way that I want to make mine going forward. Not only was it faster to prepare but also easier to eat…no tomato chunks falling everywhere! He simply toasted a French loaf, rubbed a few cloves of garlic onto it, and added grated the tomatoes and a drizzle of olive oil. That’s it!!! I love that kids could easily help make this which would increase their interest in eating it exponentially! Bruschetta is such a fantastic powerhouse of nutrition. The garlic and tomatoes both contain disease fighting antioxidants and the addition of olive oil increases the body’s use of lycopene, the antioxidant found in tomatoes.

Roasted Lake Erie Pickerel and Veggies: Chef Hughes started this dish with a cute heart shaped piece of parchment paper. This is a wonderful way to cook fish as it keeps all the juices, smell, and flavour in AND reduces on the number of dishes to clean. You can get your kids involved and let them cut the paper into any shape they want to and then use it as a personalized plate. This recipe was also very simple to make. Add fresh veggies (ie. Onions, zucchini, peppers, etc., any spices, seasonings, condiments, oil, capers, olives, etc., that you enjoy, and the piece of fish (ideally local and wild). Chef Hughes roasted our fish and veggies in an LG ProBake Convection® range and it was a “melt in your mouth” dish that I know my whole family would be sure to enjoy!

Strawberry Fluff: There is nothing like Ontario Strawberries mid-June. Chef Hughes combined fresh strawberries with an egg and a little sweetness to create this light and fun dessert for everyone.

The day was truly a delight from start to finish. And now I am on a mission to create an LG Kitchen in my own home. Who is with me???
