One of the very first decisions I made as part of our kitchen renovation was about the
appliances – after a lot of research, I found that LG home appliances were perfect for my family as they are designed for the busy pace of everyday life. LG appliances are built to improve efficiency in the areas of time and energy…and that is exactly what this mama needs!
Our kitchen designer took our LG appliance choices into consideration when putting the layout together and I am so very excited that these innovative and gorgeous appliances are part of our everyday life now.
If you asked me why I chose LG Canada kitchen appliances, there are 3 main reasons:
The Energy Savings.
And by energy, I am referring to my energy and environmental energy! The LG appliances save me time as a busy mom.
The LG ProBake ConvectionTM Oven is built with the heating element in the back as opposed to the bottom, which means I don’t have to spend time moving casserole pans and muffin tins from the bottom rack to the top, mid-bake. There is also an EasyClean® cleaning cycle that takes 10 minutes…a huge time saver!
The LG QuadWash® dishwashers are a dream because they use TrueSteam™ technology that cleans dishes so thoroughly that I do not need to pre-rinse the dishes at all. And from an environmental and cost-savings perspective, the LG InstaView Door-in-Door® refrigerators and LG QuadWash dishwashers are Energy Star® rated and use less energy compared to current federal standards.
The Physical Design.
I absolutely love the attention to detail with respect to the design of the LG kitchen appliances. The InstaView Door-in-Door refrigerator allows quick and easy access to the food and beverages we use most often, as well as adjustable shelves to accommodate all sizes of containers, and a freezer with three layers of storage compartments. I tend to keep the boys’ vitamins in the fridge so it’s easy to grab them in the morning when we’re getting ready for school.
The LG QuadWash dishwasher that we chose has three racks; two of them are adjustable in height, and one adjustable with prongs. I don’t know about you, but I find loading a dishwasher to be a bit of a puzzle sometimes. The LG QuadWash has made the process a VERY easy puzzle to solve! The LG ProBake Convection oven with Induction Range is not only gorgeous to look at, but incredibly user friendly! One of my favourite features of the oven is the glide rack that rolls half-way out so that dishes can be checked without coming all of the way out of the oven.
The Technology Innovation.
As a busy mom and recipe developer, I wanted smart appliances! I love that I can use the LG Smart ThinQ™ technology on busy days. For example, I can turn the LG ProBake oven on remotely before leaving work or look at the app to see how much time is left on the dishwasher cycle. I’m also very thankful for the safety shut off feature on the LG Induction Range (it definitely gives me peace-of-mind with the little ones) and the gentle audible reminder when I accidentally leave a door open too long on the InstaView Door-in-Door refrigerator.
These appliances have really changed the way I use my kitchen! Here are a few more highlights of each of the appliance and links to the exact models I chose. Check them out for yourself!
The InstaView Door-in-Door® Refrigerator
From adding ease to my morning routine to saving on energy costs and food waste, the LG InstaView Door-in-Door refrigerator is making all my kitchen dreams come true! I store the items that we use most often in the Door-in-Door® compartment and with LG’s ColdSaver™ Technology, it reduces cold air loss by up to 47%. This factor, along with the Smart Cooling Plus System, which maintains the optimal humidity and temperature levels in my fridge, leads to food staying fresher longer. This in turn has reduced the frequency that I need to grocery shop AND has reduced our family’s food waste. I specifically have noticed a difference in the shelf life of apples, berries, grapes and spinach!
The cold filtered water, cubed/crushed ice, and temperature information panel have also been a welcome addition to our kitchen. I honestly find it easier to drink water now that we have water that is always cold!
Another aspect that has been wonderful to have is the CustomChill middle drawer. This drawer offers the ultimate flexibility with respect to space and temperature. It has sliding panels to create various space options based on your needs and you can also change the temperature depending on if you are storing fresh fish, cold drinks, or leftovers from your weekend of batch cooking!
The freezer also offers a gorgeous 3-tiered space with a top drawer that is the perfect size for bread, a middle drawer that is perfect for ice packs and small items that can easily get lost at the bottom of a freezer, and then a large bottom portion that easily fits containers of all shapes and sizes.
The LG ProBake Convection™ Oven
The LG ProBake Convection oven makes cooking and baking reliable and enjoyable. I have settled into a new level of security that the baked goods I prepare and meals I create will come out of the oven cooked thoroughly and evenly. I love how the convection heating does not dry food out. Our family is enjoying meals on a whole new level these days!
One unique element of the LG ProBake Convection oven is that the heating element is at the back. This reduces the likelihood of food burning on the bottom and removes the need to switch dishes between racks mid-cooking. I regularly make muffins or cookies at the same time as I am cooking supper, and my dishes all come out cooked to perfection!
I was so excited to see the gorgeous blue interior of this oven upon its arrival. It is truly stunning! And I want to keep it that way. Which is why I love to use the EasyClean® cycle once per week and then I only need to deep clean it 1-2 times per year. The Easy Clean setting is a 10-minute option that you set the oven dial to after spraying the inside with water. When the 10 minutes is up, you wipe it down and carry on. LG has thought of everything, that the oven even comes with a spray water bottle for you to use as part of the cleaning cycle!
The LG Induction Range
I absolutely LOVE the LG Induction Range. The induction technology is unique in that the heating process is incredibly fast and efficient, and yet the surface is not hot to the touch. This is because the induction heat is from an electromagnetic energy that is created when an induction coil reacts with iron-like metals. The pot or pan you are using absorbs the electromagnetic energy and converts it to heat. So, when you touch the stove-top with a cloth to clean it while the stove is turned on, there is no heat transfer. In addition, LG has added a safety feature that the range turns itself off if it is not in use after a long period of time. These two factors were very significant to my choice of stove. I know that my boys will soon be using the stove and I am thrilled to have these safety measures in place before they start.
The LG QuadWash® Dishwasher
As I mentioned above, I was drawn to the physical layout and energy efficiency of the LG QuadWash® dishwasher. I have enjoyed the versatility in both height and use of the top 2 racks. The top rack is set up for everything from cutlery to lids and shallow dishes. Half of it can be lowered for extra space with a simple slide of a button. The middle rack is perfect for tall and short glasses, food containers, bowls, and more. There are two wine glass holders that can come down for use or be stored upright if they are not needed. And the bottom rack has a removable cutlery holder as well as versatility to place some of the rods down if larger dishes require more space. Our dishes, bowl, pots, pans, and bento-style lunch boxes all fit perfectly in that space.
In terms of water and energy efficiency, there is a specific energy saving mode and also an option for a “half load”. You can choose either if you want to wash only the top half or bottom half. For example, I recently did a few batches of soup over the weekend in two large pots. At the end I didn’t have very many dishes to wash, but I did want to get the pots and their lids washed and put away. So, I set it to half load on the bottom. It was a faster cycle than a full load would have been and did not use as much water. Such an amazing feature!
You may be wondering, “Why is it called a QuadWash?”. This is an excellent question. It is because they’re built with four arms, two of which are oscillating and release steam from the bottom of the dishwasher. In addition, there are 4 holes that steam is released from as well. The LG TrueSteam® technology offers a level of sanitation that is superior to many dishwashers on the market.
The LG NeoChef Countertop Microwave
We rounded out our appliance choices with this beautiful LG NeoChef Countertop microwave. For us, it sits under the counter, but it would be a lovely option for on the counter due to its clean and sleek design. I enjoy the variety of functions this microwave has. It offers a defrosting setting for frozen meat based on weight and set sensor cooking for vegetable, leftovers, and more!
