Such sweet memories can be made in the most simple times with children. Some of my favourite summer memories with my mom are when she made a picnic for us. Sometimes we went to a park and other times she would just set things up in our backyard. I now love doing with with my boys. There is just something about these special moments that makes me want to stop time. But since I can’t do that, I most definitely let go of distractions and take it all in.
Recently I was thinking about what I could take along for a picnic with Rhett that would be different than the usual “lunchtime foods”. I decided a Nourish Bowl and Veggie Tray with a bowl of fruit and a few Aussie Bites would be a perfect combo. Rhett absolutely LOVES pesto so it was an easy choice to make the Basil Pesto Nourish Bowl.
With a full veggie platter ready to grab, I was ready to head out with him in a matter of minutes of deciding to go as the Nourish Bowl only takes a few minutes to heat up. We had so much fun chatting and enjoying a delicious balanced lunch. I am thinking that family supper picnics with a variety Nourish Bowls will be in order throughout the summer…maybe a few board games will come along too. I just love moving life outside as much as possible and offering those special memories that will last a lifetime.
What are your favourite food related summer memories growing up? Are you re-creating them with your little ones too?
