Golden Chicken

My recipe for Golden Chicken was inspired by my favourite “golden milk” recipe. The turmeric offers incredible immune-boosting antioxidants and the flavour of the sauce is a perfect combination of sweet and savoury. The key to the perfect outcome of this recipe is the addition of 1/2 cup of water once all the ingredients are mixed together. More than this can lead to a reduction in flavour concentration. But this small amounts ensures the chicken won’t dry out. And in our home that can make ALL the difference between chicken that is gobbled up or left behind!

Here is the complete recipe:

Ingredients

4 skinless, boneless, chicken breasts

1/2 cup water

1/4 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup mustard, honey mustard, or dijon mustard

1 Tbsp. sesame oil

1 tsp. turmeric powder

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Dice chicken into small cubes and place in baking dish.
  2. Mix all ingredients together, then add 1/2 cup water. I love that my American Standard Measure Fill Faucet allows for me to use the measuring lines in my measuring cup for other liquids and then, with a simple touch, adds the exact amount of water I want on top.
  3. Pour sauce over top of chicken and cover dish with foil.
  4. Bake at 400 for 25-30 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through.
