The kitchen is the heart of the home. It sounds cliche, but it couldn’t be more true! Morning quiet times, mealtimes, snack times, home work time, family time – no matter the time of day, our kitchen is the centre of our homes and the place of continuous activity.
An outdated kitchen with an awkward layout, unreliable appliances, or lack of counter space can make the hustle and bustle of life feel more challenging. While a kitchen renovation is one of the largest undertakings, it is actually the most popular modifications people make to their homes. And if you have been following me for a while, you know that we did exactly that during the summer and fall of 2019. You can read more about how we prepared for our renovation here.
With 3 young children home renovations can be intense, but the inefficient layout and darker finishes of our old kitchen motivated us to start the process.
Here are a few “before” shots:
Our Choice for Countertops: HanStone Canada
Countertops make a significant difference in the aesthetics of a kitchen. The material chosen can also affect day-to-day life. And while many of the decisions felt overwhelming to make during the process of our renovation, the countertop decision was quite straightforward. This is because of the amazing support that we had from HanStone Countertops, Freeborn and Co., and Regent Granite. What an incredible team!
With an outstanding reputation for quality, design, and service, as well as a manufacturing plant and warehouse in London, HanStone Countertops was a natural choice for us. We were thrilled to support this incredible company. They exclusively manufacture Quartz countertops, which we loved for a variety of reasons – it’s durability, beauty, and wide variety of colour and design options. Not only are HanStone Canada Quartz countertops top quality and Canadian-made, they also have a fantastic warranty that put our minds at ease. We were happy to work with a company that stands behind their product.
The Hanstone Montauk
I knew I wanted a bright, white kitchen which lead me to choosing the Hanstone Montauk – a design that is light in colour with beautiful grey marbling. Whether sipping my coffee in the morning or preparing a family dinner with my kids, I find my new bright kitchen makes our home feel warm and inviting.
Layout and Design
Our new layout includes a lovely peninsula with an overhang that allows space for our whole family to enjoy meals together. My 3 boys often plop themselves on the under-counter stools for craft time while I make meals, and of course they are also often on the other side working right along beside me!
As large an undertaking our kitchen renovation was, we couldn’t be happier with the results. It has been 8 months since we completed the renovation and these countertops have been very well used by my busy family – they look as perfect as the day they were installed, which I think is pretty amazing!
*This post was created in partnership with Hanstone Countertops, but the opinion, experience, and photos are 100% my own.
It looks amazing now!!
